Monkey Forest
The Ubud Monkey Forest is a nature reserve and temple complex in Ubud, Bali. It houses approximately 340 monkeys which are known as long-tailed Macaques (Macaca fascicularis). There are four groups of monkeys each occupying different territories in the park. The Sacred Monkey Forest is a popular tourist attraction in Ubud and is often visited by over 10,000 tourists a month. In the Monkey Forest, you can walk around and enjoy the serene atmosphere. The forest comprises approximately a tenth of a square kilometer (approximately 27 acres) and contains at least 115 different species of trees.
Tegalalang Rice Terrace
Ubud is most well-known by international travelers as the greenest part of Bali because it has a lot of tourist attractions with green features, such as lush forests, ridge walks, and rice terraces. One of the most popular green attractions here is Tegallalang Rice Fields. Also known as Tegallalang Rice Terrace, it is a series of beautifully arranged paddies which follows the traditional Balinese irrigation system called “Subak.” The system is said to have been passed down by a sage named Rsi Markandeya in the 8th century.
Ubud Art Market
The Ubud Art Market is a great place to find beautiful silk scarves, lightweight shirts, statues, kites, handmade woven bags, baskets or hats and many other hand-crafted goods. Locally known as Pasar Seni Ubud, the market is opposite the Puri Saren Royal Ubud Palace and opens daily. Most of the goods found at the Ubud Market are made in the neighbouring villages of Pengosekan, Tegallalang, Payangan and Peliatan.
Bali Swing
The swing’s popularity began to peak thanks to social media and specifically instagram, when many influencers in bright flowy dresses started posting dreamy pictures of them being on a large swing, surrounded by epic jungle views. In the park there are many swings to choose from with varying heights: you have the option of choosing 10m, 15m, 20m and even 78m!! It’s up to you to see how brave you are 🙂 But regardless of the swing you choose, you will still be guaranteed a pretty spectacular view unlike any other—one that overlooks the river and the lush tropical Ubud jungle.
Tirta Empul Temple
Tirta Empul Temple is built around the sacred spring at Tampak Siring. For more than a thousand years, Balinese worshipers have been drawn to Tirta Empul Temple whose sacred spring is said to have been created by Indra and to have curative properties. The tradition continues almost unchanged at the temple today. Over 1000 years old, the temple and its two bathing places have been used by the people for good health and prosperity because of the spring water’s curative powers.
